If you own property in North Texas, you know how fast trails can get overgrown. Between the mesquite, cedar, and everything else that grows like crazy around here, maintaining clear pathways takes the right equipment and regular upkeep. Here at On Track Equipment in Weatherford, we work with landowners all over Parker County and beyond who need reliable machines to keep their property accessible year-round.

Whether you’re clearing hunting trails before deer season, maintaining ranch roads, or cutting fire breaks, we’ve got the equipment and know-how to help you get it done.

Picking the Right Tractor for Trail Work

When it comes to clearing and maintaining trails, a good tractor is your best friend. We carry three solid brands at our dealership: Massey FergusonNew Holland, and Bad Boy Tractors.

Massey Ferguson has been around forever and builds tractors that can take a beating. They’re perfect for the tough brush and rough terrain we deal with in North Texas. New Holland tractors are powerful machines that are also pretty easy to operate, which is great whether you’ve been running tractors for years or you’re just getting started. And Bad Boy Tractors? They bring the same tough, American-made quality that their mowers are known for, but at a price that won’t break the bank.

The size tractor you need really depends on what you’re doing. Compact tractors (around 25-50 horsepower) work great for keeping existing trails mowed down and getting into tighter spots between trees. But if you’re cutting new trails through thick brush or dealing with heavy cedar and mesquite, you’ll want something bigger—a utility tractor with 50 to 100+ horsepower that can handle a serious bush hog or box blade.

Zero-Turn Mowers Keep Trails Maintained

Once you’ve got trails cleared, you need to keep them that way. That’s where a commercial-grade zero-turn mower comes in handy. We stock Bad Boy MowersToroGravely, and Ariens—all brands built for serious work, not just cutting grass.

Take the Bad Boy Maverick HD, for example. It’s got wide deck options and packs up to 28 horsepower. If you’ve got miles of trails to maintain, a zero-turn mower will save you tons of time compared to using a tractor for everything. They’re fast, maneuverable, and built to run all day.

Construction Equipment for Bigger Jobs

Sometimes trail maintenance means more than just mowing and brush hogging. If you’re building new access roads, fixing drainage problems, or pulling stumps, you might need heavier equipment like a skid steer or compact excavator. We carry ASV and New Holland construction equipment with all kinds of attachments.

Skid steers are great for grading work, moving dirt and gravel, and clearing obstacles. Compact excavators can dig drainage ditches, yank out stumps, and handle pretty much any earthmoving job you throw at them.

Getting Your Equipment Ready for Fall

Fall is a busy time around here. Deer season’s coming up, some folks are doing prescribed burns, and everyone’s trying to wrap up their land management projects before winter. That means your equipment needs to be in top shape. Our Parts & Service team can make sure everything’s running right when you need it.

Tractor Maintenance

Fall is the perfect time to give your tractor some attention. We recommend getting an oil change, checking all your fluids, and having us look over your hydraulic system. We’ll also check your belts, hoses, and battery connections—stuff that tends to give out at the worst possible time.

If your tractor’s going to be working hard through hunting season, we’ll also check your tire pressure and tread, make sure your three-point hitch is working smoothly, and service your PTO system. It’s a lot better to catch problems now than to break down halfway through clearing a trail.

Zero-Turn Mower End-of-Season Service

Before you put your zero-turn away for winter, it needs some care. We’ll sharpen or replace your blades, clean and inspect the deck, stabilize the fuel system, and check your battery. If you noticed anything acting funny during the season—weird noises, uneven cutting, whatever—fall is the time to get it fixed, not next spring when everyone else is bringing their equipment in too.

Construction Equipment Fall Checks

Skid steers and excavators need fall service too, especially with temperature changes coming. We do thorough hydraulic system checks, look for any leaks, grease all the fittings, and inspect your tracks or tires for wear. We’ll also make sure your engine’s ready for cooler weather so you don’t have any surprises when you fire it up on a cold morning.
